ClaimTrust Executive Karen Bowden to Present at 2010 HFMA, Massachusetts-Rhode Island Chapter Seminar

Foxborough, Massachusetts, January 11, 2010…ClaimTrust, a leading provider of revenue cycle tools and services for hospitals, today announced that Karen Bowden, president of its consulting services, will be presenting a case study at the Massachusetts-Rhode Island Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) seminar, Season for Change: Tackling the Future for Healthcare Finance, on January 22.

Bowden will co-present a case study titled RAC – Developing Successful Appeal Strategies, A Case Study with a customer of ClaimTrust. The presentation will explain how organizations can develop and deploy successful Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) appeal strategies based on lessons learned during the RAC demonstration phase. Bowden will explain how one hospital successfully appealed RAC audits using strategies and tactics including: developing case management/utilization review protocols, defining admission policies and learning how to overturn debridement coding issues.

Bowden is a regular speaker at Massachusetts Hospital Association, HFMA chapters and Massachusetts Association of Patient Account Management (MAPAM). During her 25 years of hospital administrative experience, Bowden managed fiscal and clinical operations in large academic teaching facilities in Pittsburgh and Boston. She has developed and implemented denial management systems to track, report, prevent and appeal denied claims. Expert knowledge of payor systems gives Bowden and ClaimTrust the leading edge in implementing successful strategies that decrease denied claims and increase net revenue.

The HFMA seminar will offer a full day of updates on today’s most pressing healthcare revenue cycle topics and will include an expert panel on healthcare reform. Bowden’s case study presentation will be featured as part of HFMA’s “Government Track” breakout session on January 22, 2010, at Gillette Stadium Clubhouse in Foxborough, Mass.
